The SDIx video playout server is the ideal solution for low cost, multi-channel, studio quality video playout designed specifically for studio, broadcast, corporate and digital signage markets. Using high quality industry components coupled with high quality video components, the SDIx is able to provide a complete, easy to use, maintainable and sustainable solution.

Overview

From the out-set the design of the SDIx product was to achieve high performance for today’s studio, broadcasters, corporate and digital signage markets while maintaining a tight control on cost without sacrificing ongoing quality. The SDIx product meets demanding requirements and brings additional features normally only found in much higher cost solutions. SDIx provides both HD and SD options using SDI and HDMI outputs.

Media & Formats

All models support continuous, seamless, back-to-back playback of multiple MPEG streams, with the ability to mix-and-match any valid MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 stream format such as transport, program, system and elementary stream. There are options for decoding streams up to 20Mbps for SD and 30Mbps for HD with 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 Chroma formats to further enhance the final output quality.

The SD options include NTSC and PAL colour standards and a choice of external reference locking for studio installations. This media handling power is further complemented with frame accurate synchronization across multiple output channels in a system. This is ideal for applications such as “window on the world” with multiple screens simulating the view out onto a news room floor, or for an exhibition where a star map needs to be projected on to a large area, enabling far wider or larger displays to be created and presented as one to the viewer.

Hardware Decode

All media is decoded in hardware giving a level of frame accuracy suitable for studio demanding work. Output formats are also adaptable with hardware scaling and colour correction adding to the quality and flexibility of outputs.
